NABSTMC™ Honolulu Chapter Programs
The psychology of giving….
At the core of human interaction lies the profound act of giving. It’s more than just an exchange of monetary value; it’s a display of empathy, connection, and altruism. Psychological studies have shown that the act of giving activates the pleasure centers in the brain, suggesting that there’s a deep-seated joy derived from helping others. This joy is a key player in the motivations behind donations, highlighting the psychological benefits of giving ~ Rally Up
Foundational programs of NABSTMC™ Honolulu are the Special Olympics Hawaii and Donor’s Choose program. Special Olympics stands for inclusion and was founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver because people with intellectual disabilities had been sidelined, marginalized, and isolated for too long. BSMC Hawaii actively participates in promoting inclusion by aiding Special Olympics Hawaii to use sports as a catalyst for systemic change.

Regarding our Donor’s Choose initiative, there are a number of educators in the club and all are passionate about supporting and answering the need of teachers. Donor’s Choose “makes it easy for anyone to help a teacher in need, moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences, they need for a great education.” Anyone can Join Us in helping them, or help individually by making a donation towards our Donors Choose program and/or volunteer and ride with us to a Special Olympics Hawaii event. We’d love to have your support as we continue to Do Good in the Hood!

The NABSTMC™ Honolulu Chapter volunteered to assist HPD as a part of their Law Enforcement Torch Run events. The off-duty Law Enforcement Officers volunteer their time on top of 10-foot scaffolds and rooftops across the state to raise awareness and resources for Special Olympics HawaiÊ»i! Chapter volunteers collected donations down below as patrons shopped the local Walmart. Another great community support program.
